CEDeR Books was born out of the need to develop books for beginning readers; our decodable books are strategically designed to support children to learn to read using phonics. CEDeR Books center characters, stories, and themes that highlight diverse cultures. We so believe in our books and how they will transform early literacy in this country that our company bears the name of our signature product, culturally-embraced decodable readers.
Phase one was research and development and during that time we wrote a ton of books, 46 books to be exact, putting all the research on early literacy and our expertise as educators into action.
We’re now in the pre-revenue stage asking for your investment in CEDeR Books to fund Phase 2 of our work: publishing each of our seven sets of books.
Investing in CEDeR Books is an investment in generations of readers and critical thinkers. At CEDeR Books, every child deserves a culturally-rich reading experience.

CEDeR books are specifically designed to celebrate the diverse experiences and cultural backgrounds of all children. By featuring relatable characters and stories, we help children see themselves in the books they read, which boosts their confidence and motivation. Positive reinforcement and engaging storylines also encourage a love of reading and a sense of accomplishment.
CEDeR books are developed by experienced educators and illustrators who understand the nuances of early literacy. Each book incorporates proven teaching methods and strategies to support reading development, including the acquisition of phonics and sight word recognition.
Decodable text is a type of text used in beginning reading instruction. Decodable texts are carefully sequeneced to progressively incorporate words that are consistent with the letter-sound relationships that have been taught to the new reader (Reading Rockets, 2022).
To become a capable, confident reader, young learners should begin their reading journey with Set 1, focusing on short vowel sounds. Each sequential set of readers in sets one through seven will allow an immersive reading experience.
CEDeR books are designed with readability and engagement in mind. They feature clear, simple text and illustrations that help maintain interest to develop comprehension. Our thoughtful designs ensure that young readers can easily follow along and make progress in their reading journey.

“Culture, it turns out, is the way that every brain makes sense of the world. That is why everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity, has a culture. Think of culture as software for the brain’s hardware. The brain uses cultural information to turn everyday happenings into meaningful events.”
